DELSU SERVICOM SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME

On the 11th of February, 2026, the SERVICOM Unit of Delta State University, Abraka in conjunction with the Office of the Special Adviser to the governor on SERVICOM and Labour Relations held her first sensitization program for staff of Delta State University Abraka. The program was to sensitize staff on SERVICOM principles and improved service delivery in DELSU.
The program had the presence of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Samuel O. Asagba accompanied by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration Professor Edmund A. Atakpo and Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics, Professor Hillary I. Owamah. Also present were Mrs. Otimeyin Ekakitie-Omajuwa, the Bursar, Professor Ignatus N. Njoseh, Dean of Students, Prof. Sam Ogege, Dean of the Social Sciences, Mr. Enaowho Anthony, Ag. Director, Estates, Mrs. F.A. Obarorakpor, Senior Deputy Registrar, all Deputy Registrars and Principal Assistant Registrars.
While giving his welcome address, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Samuel Asagba, informed the Special Adviser and his team of SERVICOM officials from Asaba of the institution's progress, including:
• Ensuring compliance with SERVICOM policies
• Installing signposts, roll-up stands, and complaint boxes in all Faculties
• Tracking Lecturers' Attendance through a team of SERVICOM officers and Coordinators
• Addressing issues from the Faculties and Directorates
• Renovating offices and classrooms
• Implementation of online screening and payment systems
He also highlighted that Delsu is now ranked as the best state University in Nigeria and overall 12th in Nigeria according to the latest 2026 edition of the Times Higher Education (THE) rankings.
Delivering his speech, the Senior Adviser to the Governor on Policy and Labour Related Matters, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon emphasized the Principles, Objectives and Importance of Service Delivery to all. He further stated that he was directed by the Governor to revamp SERVICOM with the focal points as:
• The State Governor's Agenda and Action Plan.
• Participation in governance
• Timely, effective, efficient and accurate service delivery.
• Certificate and result verification concerns.
• Standards for staff promotion.
• Punctuality.
• Zero tolerance for irresponsible behaviors.
Constituting the factors that promote best service delivery as good service, time consciousness, professionalism and the right attitudes. In like manner, poor communication and the absence of the right trainings are the factors that promote poor service delivery.
Principal Assistant Registrar and Head of SERVICOM in DELSU, Mr. Denedo N. Emuobonuvie thanked the Vice-Chancellor for the opportunity given to serve. He urged staff to always be present at work, prioritize service delivery, emphasizing determination, teamwork, professionalism, and creativity as vital tools that aid service delivery
The Head of SERVICOM, Delta State, Mrs. Onwusanya Uche, thanked the Vice Chancellor and his team for their hospitality.
